LAB is a playwright first company. You get a dedicated team focused on bringing your work to life. We work in direct collaboration with you. Your voice, your opinions, and most importantly your help, shapes how we bring your work to life.
We have two submission calls per year. The first is our full-length call, usually at the beginning of the season/calendar year. Our second call is most often during the summer and is for comedic shorts (10 to 15 minutes) for our biennial comedic short-play festival called LAB Laughs.
We are on the hunt for powerful stories that spark conversation, challenge perspectives, and reflect the world around us. How do we live, feel, and respond to the times we’re in? What truths are you ready to reveal? Show us the mirror you’re holding up to society and the ways your work can inspire change and ignite cultural shifts.

Annual Call for New Work: full length work only, Unproduced & Unpublished!
LAB Theater Project seeks original new works for our 12th season (Jan 2027-Dec 2027)—This call for submission will remain open till March 15, 2026!
Submission Details:
For all submissions, please provide in the body of your email a 100-word playwright bio, a 100-word synopsis of your play, and production/development history of the work. You should submit directly to submissions@labtheaterproject.org with the subject heading Full Length Submission: (Title of your play) by (Your name). Work sent directly to company or board members will be rejected.
