Auditions for a new local original work:
INFORMATION:
Synopsis: Anabelle is trying to keep the her flower shop, Lady’s Mantle, afloat while her mother, Rosalee serves a sentence in jail. As part of sentencing, the shop must be audited every year, and today is audit day, but the “regular” auditor is out and a new auditor is coming. The shop is a center for Murphy’s law, and today, Murphy is working overtime. Linda & Wade try to help Anabelle keep things going before Miriam, the new auditor arrives. This is a comedy of errors with a peek into flower shops. This situational comedy explores relationships, love, and the power of resigning to Murphy’s law.
CAST:
ANABELLE “DAISY” BLACKWELL, early thirties, she/her. The current owner and operator of Lady’s Mantle, a flower shop inherited from her mother. Strives for normalcy. A chronic smoker and
train-wreck.
**ROSALEEE HOLLOWAY, late fifties, she/her. Previous owner and operator of Lady’s Mantle, and Daisy’s mother. Currently in jail.
MIRIAM, early thirties, she/her. The youngest daughter of an incredibly affluent family. Strives for perfection. Currently an auditor and evaluator for the Florida Department of Agriculture.
LINDA, late sixties, she/her. The lead (and only) florist employed at Lady’s Mantle. Has been there since the beginning.
WADE, nineteen, he/him. The rambunctious delivery driver for Lady’s Mantle. Incredibly nosey. A more recent hire.
**REBECCA, mid fifties, she/her. One of many wet truck drivers.
**Role is intended to be double cast
WHAT TO PREPARE:
Please prepare a 1 minute comedic monologue. There will be cold readings from the script as well. Also, please bring a headshot (if you have one) and know your conflicts between August to December 3, opening night. If you have conflicts with tech or performances, you are not castable in this show.
No video submissions are accepted.
DATES:
Tuesday, July 21, at 7 pm and Thursday, July 23 at 7 pm.
Callbacks will be held on Sunday, July 26, at 2 pm.
